What's Going On

The Student Union team along with our architects, Workshop Architects and Architects Lewis + Whitlock, and construction team, Ajax Building Corporation, are working hard to create the best student union possible for our community. This will be a transformative opportunity for our union to provide a center for student engagement, entertainment and leisure.

The new union will replace the former at 75 N Woodward Ave. Construction began in Summer 2018 and the anticipated opening of the building is in fall 2021. Approximately 75% of the current Oglesby Union was torn down over Summer 2018 and replaced with new construction. The facilities that remain during construction are the Davis Building (Union Ballrooms and Food Court) and Moore Auditorium. The Davis Building will be torn down after the new construction is built. Moore Auditorium is not included in this Oglesby Union renovation project.

The New Union team has sought student input and feedback in all parts of the process for the New Student Union in an effort to make the best, student-focused union possible. In Spring of 2017, Workshop Architects and Architects Lewis + Whitlock visited Market Wednesday to get a glimpse at one of the Oglesby Union's most special traditions.

The new Student Union will include features such as:

  • Study and leisure areas
  • New expansive FSU Campus Store
  • Large state of the art ballrooms
  • Flexible meeting rooms
  • Synergistic student organization spaces
  • New food destinations
  • Brand new Crenshaw Lanes
  • Brand new Club Downunder
  • Brand new Art Center
  • Brand new Market Wednesday plaza

Details of these plans will be finalized in the coming months as we get farther along in the project schedule. To see what the New Student Union will look like, please visit here.
